5 Highest Rated Games With Deals and An Epic Update

  • Dink
highest rated games

Today we are going to list the 5 Highest Rated Games by Metacritic that have deals on them.  We are going to have to skip Disco Elysium, because we already wrote about it in this post.  The Disco Elysium deal is still good so don’t pass it up.

One interesting thing to note is that all of the games today can be run on a toaster.  Any computer built within the last decade should be able to run any of these games fine.

We will also provide an update on the Epic Holiday Giveaway.

Epic Holiday Sale and Giveaway Update

In case you missed it Epic is giving away a free $10 coupon to all Epic Accounts that is valid until 1-6-2022.  You can use this coupon multiple times to make the savings even better.

Recent leaks suggest that the following are the rest of Epic’s Free Games for 2021:

December 28th:  Moving Out

December 29th:  Salt and Sanctuary

December 30th:  Tomb Raider Rebooted Trilogy

If the leaks are to be believed it means we have some great free paid games coming in the next couple of days.  We will be posting daily until the 30th, and then be returning to our 4 posts a week format.

Epic’s Holiday Game Giveaway game for today is Mages of Mystralia.

mages of mystralia
Metacritic 74% / Steam Very Positive

The story for Mages of Mystralia is written by best selling author Ed Greenwood.  Greenwood was the creator of The Forgotten Realms for D&D which spawns games like Baldur’s Gate and Neverwinter.

Mages of Mystralia has an amazing story and one of the best Spell Crafting systems of any game every created.  I would play the game for the spell crafting system alone.

Highest Rated Games with Deals

Half-Life 2 - Steam - $1.99

half life 2
Metacritic 96% / Steam Overwhemingly Positive

Released in 2004, Half-Life 2 has managed to maintain the top rated Metacritic game until Disco Elysium The Final Cut took it in 2021.

The graphics may be dated, but Half-Life 2 still manages to hold its own.

Half-life 2 has had a huge influence on gaming history.  If you haven’t played it yet, it’s time to see what all the buzz is about.  Half-life 2 is the Highest Rated Game with a Deal (minus Disco Elysium).

Portal 2 - Steam - $1.99

portal 2
Metacritic 95% / Steam Overwhelmingly Positive

Another game from Valve’s best era, Portal 2 was released in 2011.  Portal 2 is an amazingly unique blend of puzzler and shooter.  Portal 2 has Co-op puzzles and is great to play with a friend.

There is definitely a reason Portal 2 is one of the highest rated games of all time.  If you haven’t played it, grab it before the holiday specials end.

The Elder Scrolls Oblivion GOTY - Indie Gala - $3.49

elder scrolls oblivion
Metacritic 94% / Steam Overwhelmingly Positive

While there is a big focus on Skyrim, people often forget about how good Oblivion is.  I feel like Oblivion is where The Elder Scrolls really found their groove.

Oblivion is definitely a game where choices matter, and can easily affect how the rest of your game goes.   If you love RPGs and haven’t played Oblivion, you are missing out on one of the best RPGs of all time.  Oblivion is arguably better than Skyrim.

Oblivion is one of the highest rated games of all time, and you can easily play it on a 10 year old laptop.  Get it today before the holiday sales end.

Bioshock Infinite - Indiegala - $5.49

bioshock infinite
Metacritic 94% / Steam Overwhelmingly Positive

Released in 2013, Bioshock Infinite is the highest rated game in the series.  Infinite, while in the same universe, is not a sequel to the other two Bioshock games.  You can easily play it without playing the other games and not be confused at all.

Bioshock Infinite shows up on multiple lists of games every gamer should play.  Between the lists, and being one of the highest rated games of all time, what are you waiting for?

Divinity Original Sin Enhanced - Steam - $13.99

divinity original sin
Metacritic 94% / Steam Very Positive

Divinity Original Sin Enhanced is the newest game on our list, released in 2015.  Even with it being newer, the system requirements are next to nothing.  It easily runs on an i5 laptop from 2010.

Divinity Original Sin takes a lot more thought than most video games.  You have to think yourself out of multiple situations.  It requires a lot more thought than almost any other video game.

I believe this is why it is one of the highest games ever rated.  Divinity Original Sin 2 is only rated one point less than the original.

It’s interesting that all of the top rated games can run on almost any computer still running today.  It’s not state of the art modern graphics that make them great.  It’s all down to story and gameplay mechanics.

I would pick up all of these games now while they are on holiday specials.  For a total of about $25 you’ll have enough gameplay to last you months, and all the games are great.
